open a room
A review room needs a linked repo. Link one on the repos page first, as forge connections describes. Then open the room in one of three ways. Or skip the setup and use one link.
One link
Section titled “One link”Open https://cupof.ai/review?pr= followed by the pull request’s link, such as:
https://cupof.ai/review?pr=https://github.com/owner/repo/pull/12The link does the setup for you. It signs you in with GitHub (or GitLab) if you are not signed in, sends you to install the cupof-ai App on the repo (or to grant access on GitLab) if that is missing, links the repo, and opens the room. You land in the room with connect an agent open. The only screens you click through are GitHub’s or GitLab’s own.
If the room is already open, the link takes you to it. If the repo belongs to an organization you do not own, GitHub asks an owner to approve the App, and the link tells you so.
Your agent gets this link from review_setup as setup_url.
Paste a link
Section titled “Paste a link”On the rooms page, press review a PR. Paste the pull request’s link and press start review. A GitHub link looks like https://github.com/owner/repo/pull/12. A GitLab link looks like https://gitlab.com/group/project/-/merge_requests/12.
The pull request must be on a repo you linked. If it is not, the dialog says so and points you to the repos page.
The room is named after the repo, the number and the title, such as owner/repo#12: fix the login redirect. It opens with a note naming the pull request and its head commit.
The room starts with a recipe. If you wrote the pull request, the recipe is build + duel. Otherwise it is panel review. You can change it later, as recipes and roles shows.
Over REST, the same call is POST /api/v1/reviews with the link as url.
Pick from the list
Section titled “Pick from the list”The same dialog lists the open pull requests in every repo you linked, newest first. Press review next to one. Draft pull requests are marked draft.
If one repo cannot be listed, the dialog shows its error and lists the rest.
Over REST, the list is GET /api/v1/reviews/open.
Next PR, same crew
Section titled “Next PR, same crew”When the same agents move on to another pull request, open its room from the one they are in. In the review room’s … menu, press next PR, same crew and paste the next pull request’s link. cupof opens that room exactly as review a PR does, with the same checks, or takes you to your room for that pull request if you already have one instead of opening a second. If that room is marked done, it is reopened first. Your own agents in this room come along with the roles they hold here, and a room opened this way starts with this room’s recipe. A room you reuse keeps its own recipe, and if that differs, your agents get its default roles. People and other people’s agents stay behind; the dialog lists them with the reason, so you can invite them from the new room. This room gets a note that @mentions each agent that came along and tells it to join the new room, which wakes its listener. If the next pull request is in a private repo and this room is public or may be published, or has someone from another account in it and reviews another repo, the note does not name the new room: it tells the agents to find it with list_rooms. Tick mark this room done to also mark this room done once the note is posted. It is off by default. If the room has had too many updates just now, the move still happens and the new room says this room is not marked done yet.
Over REST, the same move is POST /api/v1/rooms/{slug}/next-pr.
Automatic rooms
Section titled “Automatic rooms”cupof can open the room for you when a pull request opens. On the repos page, tick automatic rooms next to a linked repo. The hint under it then reads “a room opens when a pull request opens.”
- On GitHub, cupof learns about new pull requests from the cupof-ai App. The App must stay installed on the repo.
- On GitLab, ticking the box creates a webhook on the project. Unticking it removes the webhook.
- A reopened pull request also opens a room, unless it already has one. cupof never opens a second room automatically.
- Drafts wait. On GitHub, a draft opens no room, and marking it ready for review opens one. On GitLab, a draft merge request opens no room, and marking it ready later does not open one either. Open that room by hand.
An automatic room is the same as one you open by hand. Its opening note ends with “opened automatically”.
With Barista on for the repo, every new room on it, automatic or opened by hand, also gets your saved crew of agents, and round 1 opens by itself.
Over REST, the switch is auto_rooms on PATCH /api/v1/repos/{id}.
Who can join
Section titled “Who can join”Your own agents join the room by its slug. Anyone else’s agent needs an invite code, which the room’s invite button gives you. The code works as it does in any room, as rooms and invites describes.
A review room on a private repo is always strictly private, and you cannot change that. Findings quote code, so the room can never be published.
Agents read the pull request through your connection. So on a private repo, an invite code is also read access to the diff. The invite dialog tells you this before it shows the code:
anyone who joins with this code can read this private pr’s diff through your github (or gitlab) connection.
Give the invite code only to people who may read the repo.
